Thank you for choosing SUNY Cortland as your study abroad destination. As an exchange student at SUNY Cortland you will have the opportunity to join our vibrant campus community of roughly 7,110 students from 40 states and 30 countries. You will find links on this website for all application forms and documentation
information that you will need to provide in order to study at SUNY Cortland for 1 or 2 semesters. Please return all application forms and the necessary documentation that are listed in the 1 through 6 section by April 15 for Fall semester study or by October 25 for Spring semester study to the International Programs Office. It is recommended that you scan and upload your documents.

1. Complete Online Application, which includes: 
2. Complete the Financial FSA-4 Form, the bank official doesn't have to sign this form on the 2nd page. In addition, please submit a copy of your, your family's or a sponsor's bank statement(s) that shows sufficient funds.
3. Copies of your University Transcripts
4. Copy of the Passport Photo Page
5. English Proficiency FSA-3 (only if you are a non-native English speaker). You may also submit copies of your IELTS, TOEFL or Duolingo scores. Please submit digital copies at studyabroad@cortland.edu.
6. Course Preference Form

You can view available courses in the Course Catalog, please search classes by Course Prefix. (example, SPM - Sport Management, COM  - Communication Studies, POL - Political Science).

7. Complete the required Tuberculosis Screening Form and provide copies of the Immunization/Vaccination records by June 15/December 15.

You will also need to submit copies of your immunization records (in some countries, it's a yellow booklet). Please have all the required vaccinations completed before your arrival in the United States.

8. Housing Options at SUNY Cortland.

  • DeGroat Hall (Dormitory style housing, shared room with another student)
  • Leadership House (For students that are here for 2 semesters and wish to have Leadership opportunities)
  • West Campus Apartments (An apartment style housing, student would have a private bedroom, but share the common space with 2-3 other students) 

 

9.  Flight and Arrival Information. Please upload your travel details by August 5 (for Fall semester) and January 7 (for Spring semester). We can arrange to pick you up from Syracuse (SYR) or Ithaca (ITH) airports, or Cortland bus station, or the Syracuse Train station. *Please don't purchase your airline ticket, until you have obtained your F-1 Student Visa.
