SUNY Cortland, in affiliation with the Universidad VERITAS, is pleased to offer its Summer institute for teachers of Spanish in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Participants will spend two weeks living with Costa Rican families, attending classes, and visiting sites of cultural and historic significance.

Participants have the option to earn three or six credits at the graduate level from SUNY Cortland. Three credits are earned during the component of the course that takes place in San Jose.

Students earn an additional three credits after returning to the U.S. upon satisfactory completion of the second half of the course, conducted via the Internet using Blackboard.

Special note for applications received after March 1: Applications accepted under the condition that the Non-Web Registration Form is submitted within 2 weeks of acceptance with full payment of billable charges (program fee, tuition and fees).

Space is limited to 15 participants on a first-come first-served basis, however, at least 10 participants are required. Space is not guaranteed until non-refundable $500 deposit is received.

Course Information:

Three Credit Option: Participants will earn three graduate credits for successfully completing course expectations for the in-country portion.

Six Credit Option: Participants will earn six graduate credits for successfully completing course expectations which include: Classroom instruction in Costa Rica plus subsequent class via Blackboard upon return to U.S.

Please note that the on-line portion of CONNECTING CULTURES X continues immediately after the end of the in-country portion, in other words there is no break. There are several ensuing deadlines for the required coursework throughout the end of July and half of August, all of which require regular on-line access. All course requirements must be completed and all materials submitted according to stated deadlines. Alterations to these dates and extensions will not be granted.

Travel Information:

Participants Make Own Travel Arrangements. All participants must arrive at least one day before the start of orientation at Universidad Veritas.


Accommodations:

All Participants Live with Host Families and Are Provided Two Daily Meals.
